Your task for the weekend is to make a 3D model of DNA that you will present to the class. You need to show the backbone of the DNA molecule and how Adenine (A's) bond to Thymine (T's) and Guanine (G's) bond to Cytocine (C's). This means that the strands are complimentary.
Over the weekend your task is to make a bird beak that you think is adapted to eat the best. We will have a competition on Monday on which bird beak is the best. This is designed to show us what was going through Charles Darwin's head as he studied the Galapagos Finches and saw the great diversity of bird beaks and what they were adapted to eat. Can you find any examples of adaptive radiation that occurred in Hawai'i?
Look up five organisms of your choice that live on a coral reef.
1. Draw the five organism and label the adaptations (unique characteristics) that allow it to fill and create it's niche (specialized role an organism takes in the environment). How does it escape predators? What symbiotic relationships does it have? How does it obtain energy or get it's food? 2. Type a google doc on the five organisms you chose. 3. What adaptations do your five organisms have in order to survive. 4. You must site your sources as you do in your projects class. 5. Hand in the link via the form for your class. You can find the link here: http://mrfitzkcs.weebly.com/biology.html 6. Hand in the drawings to me on Monday. Draw a picture or cartoon that depicts all of the following:
1. shows that coral reefs are threatened by coral bleaching 2. what is coral bleaching 3. why does it happen 4. what is one thing you can do to help coral reefs -Register at eventbrite.com and search for Maui Huliau
-Go to the event an participate-write a reflection or make a poem of your experience. (must be a detailed reflection) |
